Holly Fulton S/S 2012 London

Holly Fulton's collection was a lovely clash of the seaside and fantastic prints, her signature deco style was as always included in the layouts and patterns, resulting in some overall style similar to Versace.
I love the inclusion of the seashell, coral and zebra which created a very fun collection of clashing prints, almost bordering on bad taste but I think just created a very strong edgy look. It is definitely a collection for a strong confident woman who is not afraid to make a statement.

Street Style Trend, London Fashion Week

I spotted a lot of Backpack wearers at London fashion week, here are a few of my favorites. I think backpacks are a quite nostalgic vintage item that almost everyone can wear and pull off, these backpacks have been worn very well and add to the overall look of each individual and add a mismatch of colour and pattern.

Trend S/S 2012

The sporty trend has been apparent throughout New York fashion week and I have noticed it also in London fashion week. The use of mesh or laser-cut fabrics has been used in very different ways but overall it creates a very slick look, Marios Schwab creates a very sophisticated sexy sporty edge to his collection whilst Altuzarra creates an almost grungy look with the sporty fabrics.

Ashish S/S 2012 London

Ashish as always was a beautiful array of his signature sequin encrusted garments. This collection was inspired by Van Gogh which we see with the use of the sunflower prints and straw hats. The flowers growing from the military boots, give a charming almost scarecrow like aesthetic, this is furthered with the high waited jeans tied with up string.
He uses colour and print very boldly as always but the balance is always right with each outfit, I think the involvement of the brick wall pattern cuts up the florals really nicely.

House of Holland S/S 2012 London

This collection was named by Henry Holland as 'Pastel Punks' which I feel sums up the collection very well. He has used the skinhead uniform of a buttoned up shirt with high waisted bleached jeans and suspenders. But the aesthetic it creates is actually very cute due to the colour palette and details such as the bleached jeans looking like clouds.
It also highlights on the safari trend with the oversized leopard print and python skin, which i think worked great in the pastel leopard dresses.
I think this collection is very fun as always and very london in its style.

Band of Outsiders S/S 2012 NYC

Boy and Girl had two very different looks to them, Boy as usual showed a strong tailored androgynous look, with a minimal but interesting use of print.
Girl on the other hand showed a use of very different fabrics soft flowing and very feminine, soft silhouettes. And a very washed out muted colour palette of floral fabrics, creating a very pretty girly aesthetic.
There was a slight edge and darkness to the collection though with dip dyed crochet and prints that looked like dark dip dyes of flowers crawling up maxi shirts. Almost like a sincere element to this essentially very pretty, girly and therefore quite shallow aesthetic.

Trend S/S 2012

Lots of designers (many more that I have included) have embraced the peplum for spring 2012, the old fashioned 80's style has been re-vamped in very different ways making it a modern wearable silhouette. From the more structured, sculptural statements to the softer more feminine and flattering shapes. I think it is a fun, cute and actually very wearable trend.

Jill Stuart S/S 2012 NYC

Pops of tropical colours and print, I like her use of very bright hues balanced with the more pastel softer colours.
Really cute use of scalloped hems and textured detailing and a variety of super cute prints, birds, palm tree's, spots.
The silhouette was quite simple but I particularly liked the high collars and dropped waists and my favourite item was the quilted paneled jacket in beautiful corals, pinks, red, and blue.

Lacoste S/S 2012 RTW NYC

Felipe Oliveira Baptista has successfully reconstructed classic pieces such as the rugby top into a feminine and fresh items, he has stayed true to Lacostes sporty roots but has definitely had some sex injected, with some cut outs and slits making the typically masculine items revealing and sexy.

I feel this worked really well with the boxy and quite boyish silhouettes and dropped waists a style that I feel is timeless.
